The piece explores the values and habits passed down from previous generations. The artist comes from a background where saving everything was necessary and grew up feeling ashamed and anxious about clutter. Much of her adult life has been spent trying to compensate for this past by being very particular, clean, and obsessive about her current space. This inheritance weighs heavily on her, and she tries to hide it as she addresses the insecurity she felt in her previous living spaces. The photo reveals these psychological spaces, which are often invisible to the outside world, and how our perceptions affect our internal thoughts and beliefs.
