New Year’s Resolutions
Digital Photo

With every year, there’s some sort of pressure to be better. And not many notice, these outdoor exercise machines by the highway, that are seemingly laid in front of us, in what feels like the middle of nowhere. For the purpose of a more human centric and friendlier city, but due to their absurd placement, i see them as outdoor sculptures. I felt the desire to interact with the machines by doing the complete opposite of what they were intended for, not that anybody else was using them anyways. Highlighting their presence and placement, as with all the problems, and issues that we have from urban planning to healthcare, these machines really solve nothing. Just like my new year’s resolution to work out and eat healthy. Superficial to the things that we actually go through but just another way to say we’re doing better.
